Six Flags doesn’t just stand for awesome amusement parks. Six Flags has also made a substantial mark on the world of wet and wild water parks with its chain of parks known as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.
Hurricane Harbor water parks are spread out around the country. Some are stand alone and some are part of a neighboring Six Flags amusement park. But they all have somethings in common: state-of-the-art water rides, the latest and greatest in water slides, wonderful wave pools, raging rivers and a soaking of watery fun.
Get ready to dive into a world of body slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and more!
History of Hurricane Harbor Water Parks
The Hurricane Harbor brand was first introduced by Six Flags in 1995 with the opening of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor adjacent to Six Flags Magic Mountain. The second Six Flags water part was Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, Texas.
As the years went by, other parks within the Six Flags franchise were rebranded and upgraded to become Hurricane Harbor locations. In 1999, Six Flags St. Louis became the first park to construct its own water attractions section. While most Hurricane Harbor parks have thrived, one location, formerly known as Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, was sold in 2004 and renamed Hurricane Hannah’s Waterpark before being abandoned in 2006.
