If you live in or around Houston, summertime means getting a good soaking at SplashTown Water Park. SplashTown is a super-sized, family fun water park located just north of Houston in Spring, Texas. It was formerly a part of the Six Flags family of theme parks and water parks.
The park underwent a major cleanup and refurbishment in2006, but then SplashTown was sold by Six Flags as part of amulti-park deal with PARC Management in early 2007. Despite the sale of the water park, last season was a splashing success, and now SplashTown is getting ready for a soaking wet summer in2008.
The highlight of this summer season is going to be theopening of RipQurl, an extreme tube ride that combines thethrill of a water slide with the splashing fun of a funnel andeven lets you ride with a friend! And that’s just the beginningof the wet and wild good times you can have at SplashTown.
The Tornado Ride is called “the ultimate storm” at SplashTown, because it plunges you and your fellow tubers straight into the eye of the storm from a height of 75-feet high. Then you slosh through a 132-foot tunnel toward your final splash down.
The Texas Free fall is the flagship ride at SplashTown, and you won’t want to miss the excitement of this five-story plummet into the watery depths below. For even more excitement, you have to try the 95-foot tandem tube slide on Zoom Flumes,or opt for one of the two partially enclosed slides that have you slipping and splashing in the dark.
Thunder Runs offers up more wet wildness, sending you speeding through its slippery twists and turns. Space Rapids is a totally enclosed tube ride, where you can space float downone of three different flumes. It’s a soaking new space trip every time.
Big Spin surfs up even more splashing good times, as you slip and slide around this unique round slide. Shotgun Falls lets you race a friend or foe 30-feet straight down to the finish line.
If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, try a leisurely float along the Guadalupe River Adventure for some rest and relaxation. Treehouse Island is a playground full of slippy, splashy interactive fun, including climbing nets and one precariously perched bucket of water.
Even the smallest splashers in your group can have a soaking good time in Crocodile Isle, a special children’s area withrides and slides designed specifically with the little ones in mind.
